Great North Swim

08 July 2008

Looking for a new sporting challenge that will benefit others as well as you? The Red Cross is looking for people to join the Red Cross team for the first event of its kind in the UK – The Great North Swim on Saturday 13 September 2008.

The Great North Swim is a one-mile open-water swim in Lake Windermere in the heart of the Lake District. This scenic venue has panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and mountains – a perfect location for a charity challenge.

As a member of the Red Cross team, you will be in good hands, including race support from start to finish, a full and comprehensive sponsorship pack and a Red Cross t-shirt to put on after your swim! The entry fee is £25 with a £150 sponsorship target. If you’re inspired to take part, have a look at our A-Z guide to Swim4Fitness, which will help you with training leading up to the event.

To apply for a guaranteed place, contact Jo Allott, Area Fundraising Manager, on 0161 8888915 or email challenges@redcross.org.uk. By swimming, you’ll be helping the British Red Cross to get to every disaster that needs it.

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. It is part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies.
